Pablo PicassoPablo Ruiz Y Picasso, was born on October 25, 1881. He started to paint in a truly revolutionary manner. His father, Jose Ruiz Picasso accepted a position at Barcelona's School of Fine Arts where he was enrolled. In 1906, during his visit in Spain, his work entered a new period influenced by Paul Cëzanne. Picasso painted one of his most important works, Les Demoiselles d'Avignon, this work is considered to be the beginning of Cubism. Cubism allowed the artist to show his/her model from many different viewpoints. After Picasso started this trend many artists followed.
Georges Braque
Georges Braque was born on May 13, 1882. He was a French painter and sculptor. Braque was trained to be a house painter after his father. In 1909, his paintings reflected his new interest in simultaneous perspective. He was closely working with Picasso. Around that time the art movement Cubism slowly took shape. Their paintings tried to show objects from every direction at once. It's easy to mistake Braque's work around that time period for Picasso, or the other way around. Picasso once said that he couldn't even tell the difference. The two artists parted ways when Braque entered the army to fight World War I as a sergeant. After returning from the war, he spent months in the hospital suffering from a serious head. When he was released, he focused on his art.
